my sister has a rescued a severly abused puppymill dog.
how do you train a puppy mill dog that is 4 years old and refuses to go outside and is affraid of every little noise?she pees and poops constantly in the house.
scolding won’t work the dog still keeps doing what she wants and is defiant.
this puppy mill dog was severly beatened and confined to a cage, eat pees and poops in the same area, and all the other dogs business goes into the cage below and into the food, she didn’t know how to walk or play with toys.
the agencey that rescued her never trained her to be house broken or correct any issues that she has. i am tired of cleaning up dog feces and urine, it is unhealthy.
besides i had to pull up the carpeting in all 3 rooms and the hallway.
what can be done?
p.s.
i had taken her to a dog trainer for 8 months and that did not help at all, only drained my pocket book.

It depends on what breed you have. Some dogs are more stubborn than other dogs, and some dogs will do anything to please you. I have a Bichon Frise, and it took us about two to three months, which had little "i can't hold it anymore" accidents. But two to three months isn't that long. so i would say about two to six months with a few accidents, of course. But it also depends on how you scold them when it happens. If your calm and nice they will figure it's okay, but if you sternly say "No!" they will understand they weren't supposed to do that.

It depends on the dog. With the last dog I had, it only took one time for me to pick him up as he was urinating and take him outside before he caught on. He never went inside after that. Other dogs I did not have that kind of luck with. Just remember to be patient.

depend on your dog….

My yorkie and poodle refuse to pee outside….

they are spoiled and stubborn….I have tried everuthing , crate , pads, litter, and still pee inside.

Hope you have a more nobel and willing to learn dog than I do.

well when we first got our dog he would always go in the house and everytime he did we said NO all u have to do is be strict with the dog it all Depend on you hope i helped:]

It depends on the dog and the owner. How consistent are you? Are trainable is the dog? I currently have a Bichonpoo who is 4 months old she was trained in weeks but many years ago I had a Lab/Shepherd Mix and it took almost a year before she was accident free.

There are alot of factors. Such as the type of dog you have, how smart it is and what type of training method you are using. I have house trained a pup in a week but it took alot of time and attention and there was still some accidents because pups can not hold it for very long.

A dog does not have complete control over its bladder until it is approximately a year old. Most will do well if you take them out 5 or 6 times a day. The main thing is to just be patient and persistent.
